Assisted Living in Stevenson,
Washington
"Columbia Cascade
Housing Corp. (CCHC) received a permanent mortgage
loan from WCRA, which enabled our organization
to develop a 30-unit assisted-living facility
in Stevenson. Our project involved a unique ground
lease from Skamania County, which the WCRA was
able to accommodate in their providing of permanent
mortgage financing. Without the WCRA's creativity,
total commitment to the project, willingness to
entertain a mortgage on a long-term favorable
ground lease, and overall responsiveness to the
non-profit's financing needs, the project would
not have become a reality. The WCRA was timely
in their performance, open to different financing
alternatives, highly professional in all of our
dealings, totally cooperative, and committed to
making our project a reality."
Ruby
Mason, Director, Columbia Cascade Housing Corp.

Stevenson, a rural Washington town overlooking
the Columbia River about 45 miles east of Vancouver,
lacked sufficient housing for people who require
assistance in their daily living activities. This
was just the sort of need served by Columbia Cascade
Housing Corp., a 501(c) 3 entity that currently
owns and operates 58 units in six projects located
in Washington and Oregon. With loans from WCRA
and Washington State Community Trade and Economic
Development and on land leased from Skamania County,
CCHC developed Rock Cove
Assisted Living Facility. This 30-unit
building is set within walking distance of a city-sponsored
senior center, minutes from a new medical clinic,
and next door to the Columbia Gorge Interpretive
Center and Skamania Lodge.

Each apartment contains a living area, kitchenette,
and fully-accessible bathroom. The building includes
a living room with fireplace, full-service kitchen,
dining room, conference room, and staff offices
overlooking a river estuary. Residents are able
to draw on meal, linen, housekeeping, and personal
care and nursing services, depending on individual
need.
